Yesterday was my day of unplugging and it was really great. I wasn't completely unplugged, but I did abide by the rules I had set for myself, and I'm very happy with the way it went.
I started out the day by playing cards with my grandparents. It was really fun; we spent the whole time laughing and talking and they taught me a few new card games. After lunch, my grandmother and used my allotted TV time for the day by watching Into the Woods together. I had seen the movie before, but my grandmother hadn't, so it was really fun watching her reactions and passing along the trivia I knew about the movie and the actors. Afterward, we went outside for a swim before dinner. After dinner we played a few more rounds of cards before going to bed.
Overall, it was a successful and relaxing day. I had told my friends and family ahead of time that I wouldn't be using my phone all day, so I didn't really get any text messages or calls all day and it was really nice to leave my phone on the kitchen table all day and not have to worry about it. I did check my email when I woke up, at lunch, and before I went to bed, but that was only to make sure I hadn't gotten any important emails, and I really didn't feel any stress or desire to check my phone any more often than I did. All in all, it was a really great day, and I'm glad I unplugged for the day.
